Description

You like to master difficult descents and enjoy top control? With the dropper seat post D.1 Ri, which is also approved for e-bikes and e-mountainbikes, the rider can vary the saddle height depending on the riding situation, like the steepness of the descent. This makes riding downhill much safer! Conveniently mechanically controlled by a lever on the handlebar, this dropper post can be lowered steplessly. Inside this post, a gas pressure spring and a linear guidance work reliably against bumps and shocks. Lowering the seat post lowers the driver’s center of gravity at the same time. This benefits both city / trekking riders and mountain bikers, on the road or riding off-road. Made of robust aluminium, the D.1 Ri provides 100 mm travel on the T100 model or 160 mm on the T160 model – an advantage for demanding MTB routes where the saddle is lowered as far as possible for best control. The dropper post comes with a low-maintenance cable routing inside the frame.

Please be sure to observe the installation requirements!

Installation requirements

NOTICE: Carefully plan the assembly as well as the cable routing. Make sure that the inner cable and the outer shell are long enough for the planned installation route through the frame! Remove any existing burrs on the seat tube of the bike. All parts must be clean during installation! Check before installation that the diameter of the support fits the diameter of the seat tube!

1. the by,schulz D.1 Ri seatpost provides for the routing of the cable routing inside the frame. Not all bicycle frames / e-bike frames are suitable for the routing of internal cable pulls. An existing opening for the cable routing on the frame is required for the routing. The cable routing must not be kinked or squeezed along its entire length! For e-bikes, it must also be possible to route the cable along the battery and the motor.

2.Before mounting, make sure that there is sufficient space in the bicycle frame for the installation of the D.1 Ri seat post and that the seat post does not collide with other parts of the bicycle or bends in the frame geometry, the battery or the motor!

3. Check that the width of the saddle rail is compatible with the head of the seat post. It must not be less than 35 mm on the inside. There are some saddles (e.g. core leather saddles) that converge too narrowly in the front part of the frame, and therefore cannot be combined with this post. Such use is not recommended, as it can permanently damage the saddle and the support.

4. a saddle clamp for saddle rails with a diameter of 7 mm is installed as standard on the D.1 Ri. If required, saddle clamps for 8 mm diameter are available. Never combine 7 mm clamps with an 8 mm diameter saddle rail, or vice versa.

Note: Saddles with oval saddle rails may not be installed in combination with this support!
5. check whether the minimum insertion depth of the seat post of 100 mm can be maintained!

This is located on the back of the seat post tube as a mark (STOP min. insert) below the extension scale. Above the scale you will find the production serial number.

6. If the minimum insertion depth specified by the frame manufacturer differs, this must also be taken into account. The higher value is decisive. Failure to observe the minimum insertion depth can lead to falls or damage to the seat post and / or the frame.

7. The clamping force of the seat post clamp should be 5 – 6 Nm when fixing the post in the frame.

If the clamping force values are exceeded, malfunctions such as reduced immersion or extension speed and damage to components of the D.1 Ri may occur.

8. The diameter of the seat tube of your bike / e-bike, should match that of the seat post. Any required reducing sleeves must have a minimum length of 100 mm, and always be fully inserted into the frame.

If the frame manufacturer’s specifications differ with regard to the sleeve length, these must also be taken into account. The higher value is then decisive!

9. Dimensions retracted and extended support

NOTICE: Please consider the assembly height of the D.1 Ri. Check these requirements by measuring on your bike as accurately as possible in advance. Also note that for the correct seating position, the individual height of your saddle must be added.
Regardless of the installation depth of the seat post, you should still have a secure footing with your front foot on the ground when the seat post is fully lowered (Fig. 8.9.1)! If the D.1 Ri is fully installed in the seat tube of the frame and you do not have a secure footing, we do not recommend using the post in combination with this bike.

Dimensions:
Dimension A – Min. structure height retracted: approx. 60 mm
Dimension B – Minimum body height extended:
T100 = approx. 160 mm
T160 = approx. 220 mm
Dimension C – Max. required installation depth:
T100 = approx. 255 mm (plus cable)
T160 = approx. 330 mm (plus cable)
Dimension D – Total length extended:
T100 = approx. 415 mm
T160 = approx. 550 mm

Also note that for the correct seating position, the individual height of your saddle must be added.

The dimensions A, C and D are related to the center of the saddle clamp. Note that, depending on the frame, an additional approx. 50 mm of installation space is required below the D.1 Ri for the bend of the cable guide!
